Speed as a Core Value

Speed of execution is the moat inside which live all other moats. Speed is your best strategy. Speed is your strongest weapon. Speed has THE highest correlation to mammoth outcomes.

Speed has a LOT of benefits. Rapid rollouts builds traction & moats faster→ more wins→ better morale→ more success→ better PR→ attracts capital @ better valuation→ attracts stronger people→ more success.

From the Amazon 2016 Letter to Shareholders:

• High Velocity decisions
• Do not use “one size fits all” when it comes to decision making
• Two-way decisions - decisions that can be reversed can use a lightweight process.
• Decisions should probably be made without waiting for “near-certain” data ie., 90%. Make them with 70% data. especially when the outcomes have convexity.

My own takeaway on the above:

Speed! when you are in doubt, not sure, etc… try doing the same thing in half the time, see if you can just do it right away. one thing that doing thing fast and right away does is, is to free you from worrrying about it - till you actually got it done or it’s not done, and you are free to pursue something else.

Lack of speed kills when you are trying to accomplish something. If it’s worth doing, or you are not sure if its worth doing (but maybe), just do it, and get it over with. 

Do not let analysis paralysis get to you.
