I had requested the Carmel Clay Library for an inter-library loan of “Theft of Fire” by Devon Erikson. The library replied by email to say that they have ordered a copy! On the amazon page, I noticed the review by John Walker, the co-founder of Autodesk; I am familiar with him, mostly through reading his “The Hacker Diet”. Found out that he passed away in early 2024.
Carmel has two library buildings in the city limits. The main library is right across from the Carmel High School (where Siri is going to start high school in a week); the other is the “Joyce Winner West Branch” which is one block away from our home, and most days I head there on foot or on my bicycle. It is a great place to sit down and work for a few hours. They do not carry many books, but mostly lighter stuff, and media, but it is at a walking distance to many families living in the Village of West Clay. The other day I even saw a mom reading books to her girls in the library. Smaller libraries are definitely a “third place” to go.
